(KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.) – The Teamsters Pennsylvania Conference announced today the formation of the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers Association, solidifying the strong on-the-job representation that Teamsters already provide to public employees statewide.

“Our police and correctional officers put their lives on the line every day and they deserve strong representation on the job,” said Bill Hamilton, Teamsters International Vice President of and President of the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters. “This new, statewide association can and will provide an increased level of representation and protection that is unmatched in our state.”

The association will represent the more than 2,000 law enforcement officers working in over 100 Pennsylvania borough and county departments who already belong to the Teamsters Union.

“By creating the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers Association, we will be combining the resources and experience of the many Teamster local unions that for decades have been representing public service employees in Pennsylvania,” said Michael Filler, Director of the Teamsters Public Services Division.

The association will fight for fair wages and benefits, and improved working conditions for police and correctional officers employed by local and county governments in the state.

The Teamsters Public Services Division represents 50,000 law enforcement officers across the country including officers at correctional facilities, city police forces and sheriff’s deputies. Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
