(LAS VEGAS) – Today, Teamsters, employees and community allies protested SLS Casino and Hotel management’s ongoing violations of its workers’ right to form a union. Hundreds took part to support the valet parking attendants’ ongoing struggle for fairness.

Management has committed several Unfair Labor Practices, including interrogation of workers that support the union. Management has fired three workers.

“This protest really shows that the Teamsters Union is fighting for us and it’s also great to see members of other labor unions here to support us,” said Chris Dobrowsky, a valet parking attendant. “This protest gives us a shot in the arm moving forward. It makes us even stronger.”

“We will not stop fighting until the SLS management stops violating the law and respects the workers’ federally protected right to form a union,” said Chris Griswold, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 986 in Las Vegas. “The Teamsters represent valet parking attendants throughout this city and they receive excellent wages and benefits. The SLS workers are looking for the same type of security, and they will get it.”

The workers are united and strong. They have submitted a petition requesting the employer to be neutral during the organizing process, but SLS management continues to create obstacles instead of working with the employees like they have for other SLS workers.

The workers have the support and backing of Culinary Union Local 226, which represents many workers at SLS.
