Republic Services Workers Join Local 396
Today, by a 7-0 vote, workers at a Republic Services waste transfer station in California voted to join Local 396.
“With this victory, our local now represents 100 percent of Republic Services workers in Los Angeles County,” said Ron Herrera, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 396 in Covina, California. “This win will give all our members at Republic more power to make their futures more secure.”
The operators, loaders, scale house attendants and mechanics work at the transfer station in Vernon, California.
“The workers want to see management stop the favoritism that is occurring and the workers want more affordable health insurance,” said Victor Mineros, Local 396 organizer. “There is the possibility of significant job growth at the transfer station, which is good news.”
