Study Finds Majority of Americans Anxious About Retirement

Most Americans are very concerned about their retirement outlook, according to a report just released by the National Institute on Retirement Security (NIRS). The research, published in Pensions and Retirement Security: A Roadmap for Policy Makers, reveals working men and women want their social security protected, and support ways to supplement those benefits, but many believe policy makers in Washington, DC do not understand how hard it is to save for retirement.

“The NIRS study is especially important to Teamster Locals that represent public employees," said Michael Filler, Director of the IBT Public Services Division. “Whether in preparation for the next round of collective bargaining or an upcoming legislative session, we need to keep our members informed, actively engaged, and speaking with one voice so we can ensure a financially secure retirement for them.”
