How YOU Can Get Involved
At the 2013 Teamsters Women’s Conference in New Orleans, conference director Becky Strzechowski told the 1,000 Teamsters in attendance, “It’s so important as a Teamster, whether you are a man or a woman, to get involved in your union.”
Here are some ways Strzechowski recommended Teamsters get involved:
-
Vote and get politically active;
-
Mentor a coworker;
-
Become a shop steward;
-
Participate in charitable and community work;
-
Further your education;
-
Reach out to young members, communicating with them through electronic avenues, the way they want to be communicated with;
-
Commit to buying American and Canadian made products; and
-
Become a union organizer.
“It’s a new day and we have a new power,” Strzechowski said. “Let’s take advantage of that.”
