Laundry drivers and members of Teamsters Local 988 in Houston have voted unanimously to ratify a two-year contract with Angelica Textile.

“With the help of the International Union, we were able to negotiate the best contract possible for the members. We look forward to working with the company and pleased to have the members provided for under a Teamster contract,” said Robert Mele, President of Local 988.

Mele said the 14 drivers, who organized with Local 988 in July, will benefit from a fair process and protections contained within the contract, in addition to improvements to sick days and vacation time. The drivers are route sales representatives who deliver and collect linens from hospitals, clinics, funeral homes and other businesses.
