(DETROIT) – The Teamsters National Automobile Transporters Industry Negotiating Committee (TNATINC) exchanged contract proposals today in Detroit with the employer group, kicking off negotiations for a new national carhaul contract that covers almost 6,000 employees.

“We look forward to meeting with the employer group next Wednesday, June 10, to begin negotiations in earnest to address our members’ top concerns, which include protecting their health, welfare and pension benefits and improving job security,” said Kevin Moore, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division. “We realize we face many challenging issues, but our committee is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure our members’ interests are addressed at the bargaining table.”

The Teamsters Union is negotiating with the employer group, the National Automobile Transporters Labor Division, or NATLD.

The National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA) and its supplements expire on August 31, 2015. The national contract covers almost 6,000 Teamster carhaulers.

On Wednesday, June 3, representatives from carhaul local unions met in Detroit to overwhelmingly approve the contract proposals that were exchanged with the employer group today.
