New Agreement Provides Significant Economic Gains

(Rochester, NY) – Genesee Brewery Teamsters at Local 118 overwhelmingly ratified an agreement that provides wage and benefit improvements and extends all of the current contract provisions to December 31, 2021. The agreement reached by the Teamsters was subject to four other unions’ approval of similar terms reached by Local 118. All four of those similar agreements were subsequently ratified.

The agreement provides for employees to receive a 3.5 percent wage increase this January, increased pension contributions, additional paid time off and freezes employee healthcare contributions at the current rate. The agreement also provides for an added 4 percent bonus on all hours worked May through September 2020, in recognition of essential worker status. There were no concessions to the company under the agreement.

“During our proposal meetings this past summer, our members made it clear that any consideration of a short-term agreement would need to provide meaningful economic gains without concessions. This agreement does just that and positions us very well as we enter negotiations later in 2021,” said Teamsters Local 118 Business Agent Ty Van Pelt.

Teamsters Local 118 represents nearly 300 Brewery workers in various occupations at the St. Paul Street and Lexington Avenue operations.
