Teamsters Local 856 Leafleting French Consulate in San Francisco to Support Teamsters Local 533 Strike Against Keolis Transit
On behalf of the Teamsters Local 533 membership in Reno, Nev. who are on strike against RTC Washoe Bus Contractor Keolis Transit – 70 percent of which is owned by the French Government – Teamsters Local 533 is extending their appreciation to the leadership and members of Teamsters Local 856 in San Bruno, Calif. for their support today.
Teamsters Local 856 starting leafleting the San Francisco French Consulate this morning supporting their brothers and sisters in Reno who are on strike fighting to maintain their good Teamster healthcare during this global pandemic.
Keolis Transit has been attacking hard working Teamster 533 members since they took over the fixed route transit operations from RTC Washoe in July 2019. Teamsters Local 533 has upwards of 45 pending arbitrations against
Keolis, in some of which Keolis has threatened arbitrators, refused to arbitrate and refused to adhere to arbitration awards. Keolis has also been a serial offender of Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges, over 40 pending ULPs, 17 pending before a judge. The attack on its essential workers doesn’t stop there. Keolis also has three pending federal lawsuits filed by either Teamsters Local 533 or its healthcare trust.
Keolis’ contract demands to the Teamsters 533 membership has been filled with poison pill after poison pill. The company is refusing to sign a tentative agreement on healthcare because they added additional poison pills
to the equation, even when these members continue to walk a picket line, all the while the transit operations have been crippled to roughly two bus routes with limited or unscheduled service for the passengers in the Northern Nevada Community.
Teamsters Local 533 urges Keolis Transit to sign the Healthcare Tentative Agreement proposal immediately, so the essential Teamster workers can get back to doing what they do best, servicing the passengers of our community.
