Today, Georgia Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff joined Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman to meet with UPS Teamsters at the company’s critical Smart Hub in Atlanta. North America’s strongest union is getting out the vote for Warnock before the special election tomorrow to determine the balance of power in the Senate.

“For the last week, we’ve had boots on the ground making certain that we elect the people who are going to support us,” O’Brien said. “There’s no better supporter of working people, especially the Teamsters Union, than Senator Warnock. He’s proven he’ll support us. When he first got elected, his first vote was to make sure that 200 pension funds, including ours, were saved.”

The senators have been consistent fighters for union families during their two years in the upper chamber. Their votes were essential to save the pensions of thousands of Teamster families, and they both are co-sponsors of the Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act.

“It’s always good to be with organized labor, and I say that because I understand where the strength of our economy and country comes from,” Warnock said. “A lot of people give lip service to the dignity of work, but you can’t say you support the dignity of work without supporting the dignity of workers. People don’t mind working hard, but they want to share in the prosperity that they are creating for others.”

In supporting Warnock and turning out the vote, Teamsters can make the difference to harden support for unions and ensure labor legislation can pass the Senate during the next term.
