(BUFFALO, N.Y.) – Following a four-day strike, Teamsters Local 264 members at Tops Markets have overwhelmingly ratified new four-year collective bargaining agreements. The new contracts cover 550 drivers, warehouse workers, and pharmacy workers.
Local 264 members received strong support from Local 118 and Local 449, who honored and supported the picket line.
“As Teamsters, unity and solidarity are our ultimate strength,” said Brian Dickman, President of Local 264. “Our members stood strong on the picket line and secured a historic 20 percent wage increase. I want to congratulate our members and personally thank the members of Locals 118 and 449 for their unwavering support and solidarity.”
Teamsters at Tops were forced onto the picket line after the grocery chain failed to offer acceptable contracts. The strike resulted in new agreements that include a $6 wage increase over four years, maintain union health care, and improve sick leave policies.
“Tops attempted to offer Local 264 members subpar contracts, but our members stayed strong and fought for what they deserve,” said Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division and Teamsters Central Region International Vice President. “The strength and resilience of these Teamsters directly led to lucrative contracts that provide the wages and benefits they rightfully deserve.”
