Alliances

American Aviation Labor Alliance (AALA)

The American Aviation Labor Alliance (AALA) is a formal partnership of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and the Coalition of Airline Pilots Association (CAPA), which together represent a combined total of more than 140,000 aviation workers. The AALA is a combined and coordinated lobbying effort on airline safety and security.

The new alliance is significant because the participating unions are affiliated with different labor federations or are independent, and they are joining forces to influence labor issues such as the FAA Reauthorization bill and bankruptcy reform that affect their members and the airline industry as a whole. The AALA will continue to build alliances with other labor organizations in the future.

Coalition of Airline Pilots Association (CAPA)

The Teamsters Airline Division has formed an alliance with the Coalition of Airline Pilots Association (CAPA) to join their efforts and resources to serve and enhance the safety, security, and safety and legislative interests of all professional flight deck crew members and the airline industry as a whole.

CAPA is a trade association comprised of labor unions representing more than 28,000 professional pilots working at American Airlines, United Parcel Service, Atlas Air Worldwide, Kalitta Air, and ABX Air. Visit the CAPA website.

Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO)

The Teamsters Airline Division has formed an alliance with the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) to work together on issues that affect their members and the airline industry as a whole.

PATCO, headquartered in Stuart, Florida, represents contract tower air traffic controllers, including the former PATCO strikers fired by President Reagan in 1981. PATCO represents contract towers throughout the United States and is in the process of organizing other towers in the U.S. and internationally. PATCO has been in the business of air traffic control for over 40 years. The Alliance agreement calls for the two organizations to identify projects and issues of common concern on which they can collaborate. Visit the PATCO website.

US Airways Pilots Association (USAPA)

The Teamsters Airline Division has formed a Strategic Alliance with the Allied Pilots’ Association (APA). The alliance will strengthen efforts to win an industry standard contract, bankruptcy reform, Railway Labor Act reform, flight and duty time reform and safety initiatives. APA is also a member of the Coalition of Airline Pilots Association (CAPA), an industry advocacy group with which the Airline Division maintains an alliance. Visit the USAPA website.
