International Vice President, Canada; President of Teamsters Canada
François Laporte was elected President of Teamsters Canada in 2015. During his over 30 years in the labor movement he helped build a better future for workers both at the negotiating table and in politics. Some of his achievements include organizing over 2,500 workers at a clothing factory, working to revise truckers’ hours of service and helping Canada’s railway unions merge with the Teamsters. Laporte has held several positions at the local and national levels within and served on the executive boards of Locals 931, 1998 and 106.
