Leaders of Carhaul Local Unions Overwhelmingly Endorse Tentative Agreement

Leaders of Carhaul local unions from across the country overwhelmingly endorsed a new tentative National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA) today in Detroit, paving the way for members to vote on the contract.

Ballots are scheduled to be mailed out to members on or about March 10 and are tentatively scheduled to be counted on March 30. Local unions will conduct informational meetings leading up to the March 10 mailing date.

Carhaul members approved the Eastern and Western Supplements in the previous referendum. Because there have been no changes in these two supplements, they are approved and will not be re-voted. However, all carhaul members will get to exercise their right to vote on the National Agreement and General Monetary Settlement.

In the meantime, members may view the new tentative national agreement and changes here. The tentative agreement has been unanimously endorsed by the Teamsters National Automobile Transporters Industry Negotiating Committee (TNATINC). The tentative agreement is from September 1, 2015, until May 31, 2021.

“We listened to our members and we strongly believe this new agreement meets our members’ goals of maintaining their jobs, benefits and standard of living,” Teamsters Carhaul Division Director Kevin Moore said. “Simply put, after almost two years of talks, we’ve come to the end of the road with these employers and believe there is nothing more that can be gained from further bargaining. While a strike is something no one looks forward to, especially if it would lead to the demise of one or more of our carriers, we have arrived at the crossroads.”
