(COMPTON, Calif.) – School workers at four different school locations in the city of Compton, Calif., have voted to join the Teamsters. More than 87 percent of voting workers chose the Teamsters Union.
(MONTGOMERY, N.Y.) – Drivers at America’s largest organic and natural food supplier United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) [NASDAQ: UNFI] have voted to join Teamsters Local 445, the union announced yesterday. The 100 drivers distribute food from the company’s Montgomery, N.Y. facility to Whole Foods and other organic, natural and specialty food stores in the New York metropolitan area. They voted to form a union at UNFI in order to ensure fair pay, equitable treatment on the job, and the ability to provide a good life for themselves and their families.
About 30 foodservice drivers voted to join Teamsters Local 630 in Los Angeles, Calif. late last month.
Teamsters Local 117 has been on an organizing tear recently. Over the past two years, the local has brought over 900 members into the union. Bus drivers, parking attendants, clerical staff, warehouse workers, municipal professionals, dentists, construction-industry workers and many others — they are all new members of Teamsters 117.

The 65 warehouse workers and drivers of Ozark Automotive Distributors, who stock and deliver supplies to O'Reilly Auto Parts stores, can finally call themselves Teamsters. An election held on Jan. 8 resulted in a majority voting in favor of joining the union.
