The following is a summary of material updates to the Rules for the 2025-2026 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Election Rules”) and, when necessary, an explanation of the change in italics:
Election Supervisor:
The Honorable Timothy Hillman (ret.) appointed to serve as Election Supervisor.
The International is proud to welcome Judge Hillman (ret.), a respected jurist, to serve as the Election Supervisor for the 2025-2026 International Officer Elections.

Definition of “Accredited Candidate”
Clarified the requirement of “written signatures” for accreditation.
Definition of “Campaign Contribution”
Updated the requirement to declare expenditures for digital advertising, social media to influence the International election.
Article VII – Campaigning and Access
12. (e)-(f)
Update the “Freedom to Exercise Political Rights” paragraph 12(e) – (f) to enhance the power of the Election Supervisor to secure and safeguard members’ rights to campaign on employers’ property ie. parking lot access. Also, the Rules were updated to permit the temporary use of fences for campaign signs during such events.

(c) – Update slate declaration deadline to August 15, 2025
Article X – Preconvention Accreditation of Candidates for International Officer Positions
1. Number of Signatures Required – clarified that written signatures required for accreditation purposes.
Article XIII – Protest and Appeal Procedures; Remedies; Rerun Elections
2. Pre-election Protests(f)(2) – require timely notice to interested parties if protest is deferred to after the election.
Article XVI – explicitly empowers the Election Supervisor to seek injunctive relief to vindicate rights guaranteed by the Election Rules.
Article XVII – Updated Effective date – placeholder pending adoption of Election Rules
