Republic Pilots Vote To Join Teamsters
(INDIANAPOLIS) – The International Brotherhood of Teamsters won the representation election today for all pilots employed by Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings, receiving 68 percent of the total vote. Read more about this organizing victory.
Thousands of Teamsters were greeted this morning by a rock ‘em, sock ‘em, opening ceremony at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. As they filed into the enormous ballroom, they were greeted by an ear-splitting drum tattoo, a throng of protesters waving “Stop the War on Workers signs, the raucous sound of “We Won’t Get Fooled Again,” and yes, a dozen Harleys roaring through the enormous hall.
The Teamsters Are In The Building
It’s hard to get noticed in Las Vegas, but several thousand Teamsters, their families and guests managed to do it. Proud Teamsters in their Teamster gear paraded through hotels, met in conference rooms and rehearsed their appearances on the grand and glitzy stage. Outside the Paris Hotel, tourists took photos of Teamsters posing in front of the gleaming red-white-and-blue Teamster semi-tractor trailer from Joint Council 42.
Welcome to the 28th International Teamsters Convention
The 28th International Teamsters Convention begins Monday, June 27 through Friday, July 1, at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Delegates are assembling and committees are already meeting in preparation. About 6,000 Teamsters are expected to participate in this Convention, including more than 1,800 delegates who will map out the future course of the 1.4-million-member Teamsters Union.
