Retired local union 170 member Paul Cardello, with the help of more than 50 volunteers, works with Veterans Administration hospitals across the nation to improve the quality of life for wounded veterans through the group iPods for Wounded Veterans.

Recently, the group launched a new website in time for the Memorial Day weekend. The site gives details on how the group has visited with hundreds of veterans at nine different hospitals. In fact they have made over 16 trips to the Washington, D.C. area.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Cardello said, “We see soldiers who have had 20 operations or more. It’s long-term care and the rehabilitation process is extensive. We provide electronics they can use to communicate and for entertainment. We see over 100 soldiers every time we go to a veterans’ hospital and they are always grateful.”
