With technology rapidly advancing into electric/hybrid and self-driving cars, the Teamsters Union continues to monitor how these developments will affect jobs and safety.

In a recent article from Market Watch, DHL Supply Chain, which provides transportation, warehousing and distribution services throughout the U.S., has reportedly preordered 10 of Tesla’s semi-trucks.

By using these Tesla electric trucks, DHL may also be moving towards mass platooning and self-driving trucks. The article reported that DHL has plans to use them for “shuttle runs and same-day customer deliveries in major U.S. cities,” although some regional runs could be in the hundreds of miles (ideal conditions for platooning).
