Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa today joined UAW members on strike at the General Motors Lake Orion Assembly Plant in Lake Orion, Mich.
“This fight is a fight for all working families across our nation,” Hoffa said. “As the economic divide continues to grow, this is a fight to improve the standard of living, to win job security and permanent jobs and to protect health care.”
GM announced earlier this week that it has cut off health care benefits for the nearly 50,000 striking workers and their families leaving many in dire circumstances.
“The inhumanity of ripping the worker’s health care out from beneath them is truly appalling,” Hoffa added.
