As the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination heats up, candidates are vying for the support of the Teamsters Union. On September 7, at the 2019 New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention in Manchester, many met with Local 633 and 25 members and officers to make their case.

The convention, which was held at the Southern New Hampshire University Arena, provided a forum for all of the candidates to speak directly to the state delegates and other key organizations like the Teamsters Union that were in attendance.

One theme carried through all of the candidates’ speeches – the importance of returning the power to working families and the middle class that built this country.

“There’s a recognition by the candidates of the influence of labor and the Teamsters Union in New Hampshire,” said Jeff Padellaro, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 633. “They are all talking about working families and our issues which shows the resurgence of labor and the key role it will play in securing the nomination.”

Teamsters from Locals 633 and 25 spoke directly with many of the candidates including Montana Governor Steve Bullock, Senator Amy Klobuchar and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigeig.

Eight of the candidates also took time to sit down with a Teamsters camera crew to share their views on issues that impact our members. These interviews will be posted on a 2020 campaign education web site that will launch in October.
