Democratic Field Organizers for State Party’s Coordinated 2022 Campaign Ratify New Agreement with Local 728

(WASHINGTON) – Campaign organizers represented by Teamsters Local 728 have ratified a new contract with the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG).

“For us, these negotiations have been focused on picking back up from the 2020 election season. These are seasonal positions, so it was important for us to be protected under a strong contract that reflected the times. With inflation higher than ever, we were determined to negotiate a higher wage. With the help of the Teamsters, we were able to get a three percent raise in pay. We also secured overtime pay and a higher stipend for transportation and cell phone,” said Timothy Villalovas, a campaign organizer with the DPG since 2020. “We are really glad to know that we will all be taken care of, and we are proud to be working under a union contract.”

On Labor Day 2020, approximately 40 workers at the DPG joined Local 728 through card check recognition. Villalovas noted that more organizers will soon be joining the midterm campaign and will also be covered under the collective bargaining agreement.

“We applaud the workers at the Democratic Party of Georgia for standing strong to negotiate a contract that will benefit both the workers and the pro-labor candidates they are working to elect in November,” said Chuck Stiles, Vice President of Local 728. “I want to thank everyone who helped in the bargaining effort and wish these workers well on these very important midterm campaigns.”
