(WASHINGTON) – Teamsters at 20 local unions have voted to ratify two regional agreements with Alsco. The three-year contracts include increased training and meeting pay, company pension contributions, improved strike language, protections preserving TeamCare benefits, and higher weekly minimum commission guarantees.

“Laundry workers often go unrecognized, but they play a critical role in keeping businesses, hospitals, and industrial facilities running safely and efficiently,” said Rocco Calo, Director of the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division. “The Teamsters have a long history of fighting for these essential workers, and these regional agreements deliver real improvements for our members across the South. We are proud of the progress made and will continue pushing for industry-leading contracts nationwide.”

Alsco Teamsters provide essential laundry and linen services for restaurants, health care facilities, automotive industries, industrial facilities, and other sectors throughout the Teamsters Southern Region.

“I’ve been an Alsco Teamster for 11 years, and this is the fourth contract I’m working under. Without a doubt, this contract will have the biggest financial gains for me and my co-workers,” said Jim Sciancalepore, an Alsco shop steward and Teamsters Local 79 member in Ft. Myers, Fla. “We were finally able to break through the company’s total control over creating better paying commission routes versus hourly routes, while keeping our great Teamsters pension and health insurance plans intact. Our Teamsters negotiators and leadership did a great job with this agreement.”
