Brothers and Sisters,

Last Friday, the Senate passed a budget amendment prioritizing aid needed for the conventions, trade show, entertainment, tourism, and travel industries.

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) introduced the bipartisan amendment with Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), noting that almost half of all job losses since the beginning of the pandemic have come from the hospitality industry. The amendment establishes a deficit-neutral reserve fund to support hospitality, conventions, trade shows, entertainment, tourism, and travel and their workers.

The Go LIVE TOGETHER coalition which includes the International Brotherhood of Teamsters had regular contact with Senator Cortez Masto who understands the economic impact that business events have on our country.

What makes this budget amendment even more special is the fact that Senator Cortez Masto is the daughter of former LVCVA CEO Manny Cortez who was a long time Nevadan and Teamster member.

Please join me in applauding Senator Cortez Masto and Senator Cramer for their support which will help the recovery of the conventions, trade show, entertainment, tourism, and travel industries.
