Sun Country Ramp Agents Join Local 970
On January 4, more than 200 ramp agents at Sun Country Airlines voted to join Local 970 in Minneapolis.
“We want this to be a career with good wages and benefits,” said Sly Oliver, a ramp agent that was one of the first workers to seek out union representation. “Now that we have the Teamsters, we have a voice.”
The organizing campaign was a coordinated effort between the local, Joint Council 32 and the International’s Organizing Department.
“This victory is a great example of what can be accomplished when we all work together,” said Tom Erickson, President of Joint Council 32 and International Vice President for the Central Region.
