Teamsters and the Service Trades Council Union reached an agreement with Disney’s Florida locations regarding the company’s decision to furlough employees starting on April 19 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Service Trades Council is made up of Teamster, IATSE, UNITE HERE, TCU and UFCW locals who represent approximately 43,000 union workers at Disney.

The agreement provides the following protections and benefits for Disney workers in Florida:

“While the protections we negotiated are great for our members, we are seeing how broken Florida’s unemployment system is right now,” said Mike McElmury, Trustee of Local 385 in Orlando, Fla. “Despite Gov. DeSantis’ promises to fix the system, it is still terrible and checks are not arriving. The Teamsters will not stop fighting until all Florida workers get the unemployment benefits they were promised.”
